What do you need to know about the rv-mobile-home?
Are you Buying an RV-mobile-home?
If you plan to buy an RV, then you need to do a needs analysis to help you determine how, when and where you want to use your new RV.
Question 1 Will you be towing any other vehicle with the RV? If you have intentions to tow a boat, or another vehicle, or a snowmobile, or a dune buggy, etc. the towing a travel trailer or fifth-wheel won't be practical RV to look at
Question 2 Do you have children involved? Either your own or your grandkids? If you are planning for small kids then you can look at a longer term investment but teenagers will lose interest in RV trips relatively sooner for other pursuits so be careful not to buy larger for people that will never be there
Question 3 What type of RV trips are you planning? Are you weekend camping, or taking short vacation trips of 2 weeks or less, or looking at sporting or other event tail gate parties, or perhaps just day trips to the beach or country picnics, or serious highway voyaging that exceeds 2000 miles or 2 weeks, or lastly staying in one place for a long period and living in the RV.
The answers to these questions effectively dictate the type and size of the RV. Whatever RV-mobile-home you choose, do your planning, buy wisely and save money
Question 4 What type of RV camping do you plan to do? This may be remote wilderness camping where there are no facilities, or perhaps somewhere not quite off the end of the world where minimal facilities are available such as some National parks and then of course there are RV parks where you have everything.
It is important not to let dreams get mixed up with realities here. You need to be very realistic on this question. Remote camping isn’t for everyone and not everyone will pull over in a remote parking spot and feel comfortable and secure, and lots of family wouldn’t be so happy either. National parks tend to be on the primitive side and they are very pretty but you may not be able to get a large RV down there and you will have to be self sufficient. Question 5 Have you planned on where you would keep your RV? In the yard if you have space and access, or on the street, although this may not be allowed due to local regulations, or in an RV storage yard. This question is always overlooked so do your homework before you buy the RV as space may be limited and storage costs may blow your budget. Question 6 Can you really afford the RV? W hat is your overall budget if buying including running, insurance and maintenance costs. If you need finance what are the monthly repayments like and can you handle them.
Question 7 Decide on what your exact personal needs are when you evaluate the size requirements of your prospective RV. Always consider the privacy of the various occupants. The period spent in the RV is important and for a relatively short period most people can tolerate reduced space. On a longer trip this space requirement tends to increase and people need their personal space and privacy, and along with that comes storage. Whatever RV-mobile-home you choose, do your planning, buy wisely and save money
Question 8 Do you need all the creature comforts and if so what do you want as essential? You will obviously look carefully at the RV floorplan and also the amount of storage space both inside and out, and ensure that this matches all your personal requirements. Whatever RV-mobile-home you choose, do your planning, buy wisely and save money
You will also look at whether you need to be fully self sufficient and able to park without any facilities or hookups. This would entail having full bath facilities; a good quantity of freshwater, black and gray-water holding tanks, black is for the toilet, and gray is for the wash basin, sink and shower. Then it is the propane tanks to power the refrigerator; stove and heating furnace. Then it is the electrics and the 12-volt battery power system for the lights, the ventilation exhaust fan(s) and the furnace blower.
Finally there is the AC generator and inverter that gives you full self contained electrical power and this may include capability for air conditioning. Whatever RV-mobile-home you choose, do your planning, buy wisely and save money
