Fleetwood-tent-trailer Lift Systems
Fleetwood fabricate there own lift systems. They feature stainless steel cables and posts that will not corrode or bind, where cheaper trailers will only use zinc plated steel posts and unplated “pusher springs”. They incorporate a stainless steel construction and water channeling design. The lift system cannot be over-cranked and does not require that additional “safety posts” toe used to support the roof. They use a heavy duty independent cable for each lift post and not a single master cable that if damaged shuts down your camping. The Posi-Lock feature allows the operator to stop and start without any kick-back or free-fall.
Fleetwood-tent-trailer chassis, axle and suspension
The Fleetwood-tent-trailer features standard trailer brakes on every model, this is not an option. They also standardise on 5-bolt wheels and not four-bolts They fabricate their own chassis (except the Avalon) and this is made from heavy-duty tubular steel chassis with full-perimeter support for long term durability. For reliability the trailer wiring is protected inside chassis tubes. They use a reliable soft-riding leaf-spring suspension with EZ Lube axles that permit easy maintenance.
Fleetwood-tent-trailer Tenting and Windows
They sew and 100% inspect every seam on every tent and do not outsource to China. They use the breathable Sunbrella 302® woven acrylic tenting on all models. Sunbrella 302 resists mildew, dry rot, fading, and cracking, and is hypoallergenic. Sunbrella 302’s inherent water resistance requires no periodic treatments, and meets or exceeds federal FMVSS302 standards for flammability. The tents are sensibly sectionalized for easier and less costly repair or replacement.
Fleetwood-tent-trailer Floor and Bed construction
They use a one-piece Weyerhaeuser Structur-wood® exclusively on all floors and bed platforms to eliminate seams. Unlike plywood, Structurwood’s® engineered construction and 100% quality control ensure consistent panels with no knotholes or voids. They also reinforce every bed with full-perimeter aluminum frames and steel supports, and rate them to 1,100lbs capacity. All beds feature easy-to-use integrated support legs that set up quickly and cannot be inadvertently misplaced or lost. That is a good idea!
Fleetwood-tent-trailer body construction
In addition to the durable chassis, all models utilize an exclusive full-perimeter aluminum upper body rail construction that comprises steel bulkheads at all corners and doorways to create a durable skeletal framework. All models feature galvanized and painted steel side body panels that are riveted to the trailer’s framework- providing both flexibility and durability for those rough roads
Fleetwood-tent-trailer roof construction
The Americana, Highlander, and Evolution models feature an all-weather durable one-piece front to rear Filon® exterior, with full-length aluminum side reinforcements that integrate exclusive roof rack tracks. The Destiny and Element models feature a reliable aluminum exterior construction, that is folded along all four sides for added strength without added seams.
Fleetwood-tent-trailer galley design
The Highlander models feature a permanent no-set-up-required galley. The Americana and Evolution models feature a patented Swing Level® galley that permits no-tip drawer storage in the upper cabinet. All new for 2007, every Highlander, Americana, and Evolution model features the exclusive new seamless-edged countertops. The Element and Destiny models include a flip-over galley that features an enclosed bottom so that the upper cabinet can be left packed.
Fleetwood-tent-trailer entry and screen doors
Fleetwood have the entry step as standard and not as an option. All models feature an extra-wide 24 1/2” one-piece screen door with automatic spring return. The Americana models feature the patented Stepper™Door® with lockable tool storage compartment.
