Do you need to know about the eureka-tent?

What is a eureka-tent?

The Eureka has a strong reputation for quality and reliability and is generally considered to be one the best you can buy. Like all tent ranges they come in a large variety of shapes, styles and of course sizes

The Eureka has some very recognizable characteristics:

1. They are usually free standing and therefore they don’t need stakes and guys to support them when erected

2. They have relatively steep walls and have fairly spacious head room

Effectively the Eureka is a screened house that gives great versatility to suit most camping activities. With a well earned reputation for durability and ease in erection they are rightly very popular.

Many models also have an outer shell that is erected very fast and allows you to erect the inner tent with some degree of comfort when it’s bucketing down rain. That works for me!

Some Eureka-tent Features

There are several Eureka-tent models that incorporate a fully enclosed inner hanging room. They each have screens and doors with some cleverly incorporating a central room for the stowage of gear or cooking materials.

Flooring is always an important feature and some models have a removable floor. Like some other manufacturers they also have doors that can be easily converted to make a patio sunshade when optional stakes and poles are purchased.

Other Eureka-tent options are wind curtains, also for me essential are the “no-see-um” fine mesh wall panels and the mesh roof vents to keep those bugs out. Bugs can turn a camping trip into a nightmare so it is a wise investment

Also worth consideration are the high and low door vents that maximize air circulation through the tent. This is essential when you hunkered down in poor weather.

Another feature is the bathtub floor design, and this affords good ground-level water protection. When the raining is coming down in sheets and water starts to stream across the ground.

Not many manufacturers consider wheelchairs, baby strollers and bicycles, however some Eureka-tent models have a porch or vestibule space for just this purpose. Kudos goes to the Eureka Freedom tent that has a patent-pending wheelchair-accessible door.

Types of Eureka Tents

When you are going through your Eureka-tent selection process you need to consider how many people will be using it, and also for what purpose.

What is the purpose? Consider the following

1. Is it a child’s pup tent for that back yard adventure or is to get away from the adults at your chosen campsite, and these normally sleep two.

2. Do you need a Backcountry Outfitter 4-Person, 3-Season Tent for the more serious wilderness trek and adventure.

Feature Tent – the Eureka Blue Mesa Tent

This a great tent and is perfect for families or when you need that extra space around you

Advantages: The expected Eureka-tent quality. Lot’s of usable room and very efficient ventilation and overall good protection from all of the elements.

Against. The tent poles not color coded to make erection easier for those with sight problems or in low light and darkness. The tent does require more than one person if it is to be erected easily.

The Eureka-tent means quality, worth considering when making your choice
